Hello! My name is Adam and I am a freelance front-end developer.
I specialise in VueJS and love building web applications and design systems. I work closely with digital designers and UX designers to create beautiful user interfaces and enjoy a good styleguide. In the past I have been lucky enough to work with clients such as Barclays, Samsung, Nike, EE & Rolex.
I am currently available for remote work or studio work in London.

Hazy is a Data Synthesization & Privacy start-up based in East London. I joined their team at the end of August 2018 for 3 months to help lead the front-end design & development. After a small pivot I was required to re-imagine the application and lead the charge wireframing a new User Experience for the digital designers to work from. Whilst acting as a hybrid designer/developer I got the opportunity to work closely along side the established team and to rapidly prototype features of the application ready for demonstration to investors and potential customers. At Hazy I worked with technologies such as Vue JS, Elixir (Phoenix Framework), Sketch and Moqups.

In March 2018 I joined retail technology company Omnifi as senior developer/tech lead to help build a web application for The Restaurant Group (Frankie & Benny's / Chiquito). It enabled users to choose, customise, order and collect meals from over 300 physical restaurants in the UK. Built with Vue JS, Vuex and SCSS it was created to be re-branded easily for additional clients. The application consumed a number of third party APIs (Product/Stock/Till configuration, Braintree Payment gateway, Sentry.io) and shortly after launch was receiving hundreds of orders per day.

In fall of 2017 I re-joined integrated agency Cheil to provide cover for the technical director and help support the existing team of developers. I continued my work there to help on multiple large and small projects for Samsung and provided technical leadership. Whilst there I helped set standards, introduce new technologies and created a Vue/React inspired project framework and styleguide.

Hex Digital

In the summer of 2017 I joined digital agency Hex to work on large web rebrand for a US based Contract Research Organisation (CRO). Working closely with their in-house technical, creative and project management teams I was the main front-end developer on the project responsible for a large set of components, pages and custom CMS themes using technologies such as VueJS 2, SCSS, Greensock and Webpack.

Mentally Friendly

In October 2016 I joined Mentally Friendly's small London studio to help work on an e-Commerce system for an Australian pharmaceutical/specials company. Accompanied by a tech lead, I was the main developer on the project and worked closely with their creative team to deliver a component focused digital design system built with VueJS 2 and Webpack. We later integrated this into Craft CMS Pro and the Craft Commerce system. The project also included a brief stint of data mining with Node JS and Mongo DB.

Dare / Oliver

In 2016 I returned to digital agency Dare after they were integrated into the Oliver Group to help work on projects including Barclays LifeSkills, multiple prototypes, styleguides and concepts for EE and their own 2016 website thisisdare.com. Whilst working with their experienced technical and creative departments we used technologies such as VueJS 1, AngularJS 2, Greensock, Webpack and Gulp.

Feast Digital

Working for Feast Digital I helped create multiple small microsites for a variety of theater and ballet productions such as Giselle (English National Ballet) and the Wind in the Willows musical integrating with their in-house CMS.

Barclays LifeSkills

Barclays LifeSkills is a web portal aimed at connecting students, teachers and businesses together to get young people working as quickly as possible. It was a large project over the course of 4 months and I was chosen to lead other freelancers on front-end development. As a team we connected with designers to establish common UI patterns and create a modular CSS architecture.

Barclays Spirit of the Game

Barclays Spirit of the Game is a website used by premier league football fans to enter into various competitions. It was a project running for two months and was featured on signage throughout the Barclays Premier League.

Whilst working at Dare I was also involved in projects & prototypes for mobile network Everything Everywhere, formally Orange & T-Mobile. I helped create snazzy animated product pages and re-skinned networking monitoring software PRTG.

In 2013 I joined integrated agency Cheil in their London offices and worked on a vast amount of microsites, digital interfaces and social pages for Samsung. I played freelance front-end and technical advisory roles. Additionally, in conjunction with DigitasLBi I helped integrate a small project for Saudi Aramco.

Whilst working as a Junior Developer / Designer at digital agency SpecialMoves I helped with front-end development tasks on Rolex.com. I also worked on multiple R&D projects and helped design the interface for an iPad drawing app for Creative Review which was showcased at the Tate Britain.

My core skillset comprises of HTML, CSS, JavaScript & VueJS but I am familiar with the usual front-end suspects such as Webpack, Gulp, NodeJS, Git, SCSS, PostCSS, Photoshop, Sketch, Greensock, Bootstrap, Bulma, Inuit. In my spare time I enjoy building music web apps, scraping data and snowboarding. I'm comfortable with a CLI environment alongside Nginx, Apache, Jenkins, GitLab, CentOS and Ubuntu. Additionally I have spent some time using React/Redux, ExpressJS, Backbone, Angular, Python (Django), Wordpress and Cordova/Phonegap. In a past life I think I was a graphic designer.
